Biz Kimiz?

We are a team gathered around choral music in Trabzon, dedicated to producing, sharing, and moving forward together. Comprising academics, music instructors, choir conductors, students, and volunteers, this team has evolved over time from simply being a project group into a community that produces together.

Trabzon Choral Festival

The Trabzon Choral Festival is a culture and art gathering open to national and international participation, organized to popularize choral music, establish sustainable bonds between choirs, support young musicians and choir conductors, and make a lasting contribution to Trabzon’s cultural and artistic life.

The festival aims to come together not only on stage but also in learning and sharing through workshops, masterclasses, talks, and collaborative production areas alongside concerts. It aims to strengthen inter-city and inter-generational interaction by bringing Trabzon’s cultural texture together with the universal language of music.

The Trabzon Choral Festival is organized by the Kur-Yönet-PaylaÅŸ Association.

The Story of the Festival

The starting point of the Trabzon Choral Festival is based on the "Build-Conduct-Share" project, which aims to develop the choral conducting skills and increase the choral music experiences of music instructors living in Trabzon and senior university students who are future music teachers.

This project aimed to strengthen music instructors not only technically but also in terms of professional solidarity and joint production; it created a ground where participants could communicate with each other, share experiences, and produce joint concerts.

Within the scope of the project, free choir rehearsals, choral conducting trainings, workshops with guest conductors, and seminars with expert musicologists were held; as a natural result of these efforts, the aim was to spread choral culture throughout the city.

As the final achievement of this process, a choral festival was organized in Trabzon for the first time; the festival went beyond being just an event in a short time and became a permanent meeting point. Today, the Trabzon Choral Festival aims to continue its path as a sustainable culture and art platform that is nourished by these experiences and grows every year.

Why Trabzon Choral Festival?

The Trabzon Choral Festival was brought to life to:

  • Bring choral music to wider audiences,

  • Establish lasting bonds between choirs coming from different cities,

  • Create learning and stage experience areas for young musicians and choir conductors,

  • Strengthen Trabzon’s cultural and artistic life,

  • Offer the opportunity to experience cultural interaction not only as an audience but also as a producer.

The festival cares more about sharing than competition, co-production than visibility, and lasting relationships than short-term events. In this respect, the Trabzon Choral Festival is a culture and art meeting beyond being just an organization.
